Day 1 Southampton
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to Southampton. Embark Balmoral (3.5-star) ahead of our sailing this afternoon.
Days 2-3 At sea
As we sail towards Portugal, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft, or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.
Day 4 Lisbon, Portugal
This Titan Travel cruise starts on the right foot today as we make our first docking in historic Lisbon. There are a number of things that make Europe’s second-oldest capital extra special. Indulge in delectable pasteis de nata (custard tarts). Climb steep cobbled streets. Photograph colourful tiled shop fronts. Wander manicured gardens. Lisbon is a superb mix of the old and the new and you’ll soon be seduced by the romance of the old-time trams clattering through the historic quarter. Elsewhere, trendy rooftop bars offer views of the glittering river and beyond.
Day 5 At sea
Today’s free as we continue our cruise. Enjoy a hearty breakfast then take your pick from the variety of activities on board. Show off your general knowledge in an afternoon or evening quiz. Try your hand at bridge, bingo or deck quoits. Or indulge in a traditional afternoon tea to while away your time. Top off the day with a sumptuous dinner or a simple tasty buffet.
Day 6 Funchal, Madeira
Welcome to Madeira, Portugal’s sunny outpost. With balmy year-round temperatures, this island has the perfect climate to house some seriously exotic plants and fruit. Breathe in the sweet floral scent as you wander the winding old lanes, wide 20th-century boulevards and pretty squares – we think you’ll find the beauty of this city completely irresistible. Spend the day walking through the many parks and gardens regarded as some of the best in Europe – or perhaps take the cable car from Almirante Reis in old Funchal to Monte for a perfect eagle-eye view of the city below. Away from the hustle and bustle, the island’s rocky interior makes for amazing photo opportunities.
Day 7 Santa Cruz, La Palma
A sun-dappled capital city brimming with palaces and religious buildings, Santa Cruz effortlessly mixes light-hearted holiday vibes with a really interesting history. Here, colonial-style buildings sit pretty next to swathes of golden sand. And there’s local culture to boot, too. Don’t miss the Renaissance-style Church of El Salvador, with a tower made from volcanic stone, and the Church of Santo Domingo. Wander along Calle Real, the main street, for the city’s finest shops and loveliest squares – plus you’ll get the chance to taste some local specialities.
Day 8 Santa Cruz, Tenerife
Now in the Canary Islands, Sophisticated Santa Cruz is Tenerife’s bustling capital. Boutiques and art galleries line the twisting streets, while wide avenues link elegant squares and parks. This good-looking and wholly Spanish city is home to brightly painted buildings and quirky shops – the streets come to life with Spanish flair.
Day 9 Las Palmas, Gran Canaria
Las Palmas is the largest city of the Canary Islands and home to a jumble of historic buildings and magnificent monuments. Vegueta is the city’s historic old town, full of culture and pretty corners. Here, Renaissance, Gothic and neo-classical influences are rife. Explore the web of squares and backstreets to spot historical buildings such as Casa de Colon mansion, Santa Ana cathedral and the Museo Canario museum.
Day 10 Arrecife, Lanzarote
Once a small-time fishing village, Arrecife is now a bustling, colourful and vibrant city – although not quite as bustling as neighbouring Las Palmas or Santa Cruz. Soak up the maritime history around the seawater lagoon at the heart of the city. This is where you’ll find a slew of restaurants and tapas bars with a fun, lively atmosphere. There’s also a mishmash of boutiques and restaurants in the city’s whitewashed backstreets. Or simply stop for a sangria and a spot of people watching.
Days 11-12 At sea
Spend two free days on board travelling around the Canary Islands. Maybe read a book and relax or choose to listen to a fascinating talk by a guest speaker. Enjoy lunchtime melodies or a piano recital, then walk a mile with the cruise fitness instructor.
Day 13 La Coruña, Spain
Ancient monuments. Modernist houses. A busy seaport. Relaxing beaches. It’s fair to say La Coruña is varied, which is why we think you’ll love getting to know this seafront city. There’s no better view of the city than from the top of the famed Torre de Hercules, at the far end of the peninsula. This monument is thought to be the only Roman lighthouse to still exist today. Back on solid ground, take a wander through the impressive old quarter, brimming with medieval details. Don’t miss the great Church of Santiago and host of galleries and museums. Flanked with boutique shops and cafés, the seafront promenade makes for a lovely walk.
Day 14 At sea
As we sail home you may want to rest after all your sightseeing. If you’re still full of energy, there‘s lots to fill your time – from quizzes, games and music recitals to walks on deck and dance classes. And of course there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the tasty food options.
Day 15 Southampton
We disembark after breakfast, where your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home after your wonderful Canary Islands and Madeira cruise.
